Makeup & hair tips to keep in mind on the day of your event
DECIDING ON YOUR FINAL LOOK
With 10+ years experience as a professional Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist in the Wedding Industry, I've learned that every Bride should feel special and look the best version of herself on such a special day. At the end of the day, this is a one shot deal and I absolutely understand that trying to find the perfect wedding makeup and hair look can be totally misunderstood. The last thing you want to go for is a look that isn't you, so keep in mind you still wanna look like yourself. Pinterest is a great site to search for ideas and find a look you can picture yourself in and will feel comfortable, whether this is a classy clean glow or a super glam look.
MAKEUP AND HAIR TRIAL
I get inquiries pretty much everyday. Almost all of the Brides end up booking a trial, the only exception is usually when the client is coming from out of town to have a Cali wedding, so time is precious. The ones who forgo a trial usually wanna try a new look on their wedding day. Brides who are open to try a different look, I highly suggest booking a trial.
ON YOUR WEDDING DAY
Whether this is for photos or for the ceremony, we work on a schedule I have previously created to ensure everyone is ready on time. This is the main reason I strongly recommend trials, you can wear the makeup and hair style long enough to decide what changes need to be made on the wedding day. A lot of Brides do their trial when they are having their engagement photos taken, if not, ask your fiance to take you on a romantic date!
CHOOSING THE RIGHT MAKEUP FINISH FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE
You can have your makeup done with 3 types of finish: matte, natural or glowy. Matte has no sheen and no glow to it but highlights and shadows can still be created. Dewy look is a very radiant finish. Natural is in between radiant and matte, this is usually the preferred look by Brides and Bridal parties. With these 3 options you end up with a makeup application that looks flawless with any skin tone.
HOW TO PREP YOUR HAIR AND SKIN: BRIDE, BRIDESMAIDS, MOTHER OF THE BRIDE, MOTHER OF THE GROOM
Come with dry hair. The texture is better with a day old hair, hair styles won't hold as well when the hair is freshly washed, it has to much movement. The only time this doesn't apply is when getting a blow-out. Once i apply the right products, Bang! there is a beautiful hair-do.
Come with no makeup, no mascara. A day old mascara can totally ruin the final look. I am very conscious about using the proper skin care products for each client keeping in mind they all have different needs. I always carry products in my kit for dry, combination and oily skin. Using the right products for your skin type will help your makeup stay on longer with out compromising the finished look.
